Big innings highlight baseball, softball wins

Parkway scored 6 runs in the seventh inning in taking a 9-2 win over Glenbrook Monday in Minden.

The Panthers held a slim 3-2 lead heading into the final frame when they got run-scoring hits from Cade Josting, Brandon Levy and Shawn Driggers to highlight the 6-run seventh. Zach Schoenborn also drove in a run with a walk. Driggers’ single to left drove in two runs.

Levy had a triple to go with his single in four at bats and was joined by Barrett Newman who was 2-for-4 as well. Schoenborn doubled in one of the Panthers’ two runs in the fourth inning and Tanner Kirkland singled in the other.

Sean Waits allowed four hits in 6 2/3 innings and struck out 9 to get the win.

NORTHWOOD 11, NATCHITOCHES CENTRAL 1: The Falcons ended the run-ruled game with a 6-run fifth inning, beating the Chiefs in a non-district game Monday.

Hayden Phipps, Ryan Gardner, Tucker McCabe, Cayne Little, Brendan Burns and Jaxon Bentzler all had run-scoring hits in the big inning for Northwood (4-1).

McCabe and Bentzler both had doubles along with a single in the game. The Falcons also benefitted from 8 walks by Natchitoches pitching.

Christian Blackmon was the winning pitcher for the Falcons, allowing just one hit and one run in five innings and fanning six.

SOFTBALL

CALVARY 29, EVANGEL 8: The Lady Cavs scored 10 runs in the third inning and 19 more in the fourth of the four-inning game. Ramsey Walker was 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs, Tavia Leadon 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs, Mallory Carver 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBIs, while Molly Woodle was 2-for-2. Abby Sims had a double and Elana Franks had a double and drove in three runs for Calvary. Addison Willis got the win to even her record at 2-2. Gaddi Olague had a home run in two at bats and drove in two runs and Jordan Miller was 2-for-3 for Evangel.
