ILOVESML ASKS PATRONS TO SHOW THEIR LOVE FOR THE LIBRARY

SHREVEPORT, LA – This February, Shreve Memorial Library is asking library patrons to show their love for the library in celebration of Library Lovers’ Month. All month-long, library users are asked to join in the fun by sharing their fondest library memories, best library stories, and everything they love about the library using hashtag #ILoveSML. Library lovers can tag @shrevememorial on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter to leave a comment, photo or story.

Library Lovers’ Month is celebrated each February around the world. The celebration encourages library lovers to unite and show their love and appreciation for libraries of all types including public, private, academic, medical, and more. Whether it be the diverse collections of books, DVDs, music and resources available, the great programs and chances to learn something new, or the access to computers and free Wi-Fi, there is so much to love at the library.

Libraries, including Shreve Memorial Library, offer a wide variety of programs, services and support for all ages. At Shreve Memorial Library, patrons are entertained through the library’s vast collection of books, movies, magazines, and music as well as through interactive programs that cover everything from storytimes for children, STEAM activities for teens and how-to and DIY crafts for adults. In addition, Shreve Memorial Library offers homework help through resources such as Homework Louisiana and supports the academic goals of students by offering virtual student library cards so that all Caddo Parish Public School students have access to the library’s vast resources. Public computers and free Wi-Fi make it easy for patrons to stay connected and access the internet, while assistance with resume writing, job searches, printing and faxing, and reference help make it possible for library users to pursue their career goals, complete research projects, and stay informed.

Shreve Memorial Library patrons have begun sharing their #ILoveSML stories on social media and via email. Here are a few of the responses received thus far.

I love the library because everything is free. If there’s anything I want, I can get it and I pay nothing! I recently got my interlibrary loan login again, and now I’m getting everything the local library doesn’t have. I go to the library at least three times a week and I always have at least one book from there I’m reading and probably a movie to watch too. And when the library is closed and I need a book, I can get one on Libby. – Erin P.

I have been taking my son to SML once a week since he was born and it’s become our happy place. I love watching my son learn and develop a love for books. – Santi B.

This library has what I want to read, movies to watch and music to listen to. And the staff is phenomenal and I look forward to interacting with them whenever I’m there. – Leta H.

I love my library because the staff is so sweet, knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and very caring that I get what I like to read. It’s such a welcoming atmosphere, it’s my home away from home. – Frances
