Parkway girls can clinch district title with win

Parkway’s girls basketball team has made a run through the District 1-5A schedule with very little resistance to post a 10-0 mark and 24-2 overall.

The Lady Panthers will host a Southwood (19-8, 7-3) team that has been playing well during a six-game win streak that has elevated it to second place in the district. A Parkway win would clinch the title for the No. 2 ranked team in Class 5A.

Haughton (14-10, 4-6) will play at Airline (20-10, 6-4). The Lady Vikes are coming off a big win at Natchitoches Central to stay in third place in District 1-5A.

Benton (18-9, 5-5) the fourth place team in 1-5A will host Captain Shreve (12-13, 4-6).

Byrd (11-12, 0-10) travels to Natchitoches Central (12-12, 4-6) to face the Lady Chiefs who have lost four of their last five.

District 1-4A leader Huntington (13-6, 8-0) takes its seven-game win streak to Stonewall for a game with North DeSoto (7-16, 1-6).

Booker T. Washington will host Evangel. The Lady Lions are 19-10 overall and 7-1 in 1-4A, just one game behind Huntington.

Woodlawn (12-13, 3-5) will try to even its overall record when it goes to Minden (9-14, 4-4).

Loyola (12-10, 4-1) plays at Bossier (5-13, 2-2) in a District 1-3A battle. The Flyers have won 8 of their last 9 while the Bearkats have dropped three of the last four.

District 1-3A leader Mansfield (16-5, 4-0) entertains Green Oaks (2-19, 0-4). The Lady Wolverines have won five straight and are ranked No. 5 in the Class 3A power rankings.

Lakeside will be on the road to Vivian to play North Caddo (8-11, 1-1). The Titans lost at Jonesboro-Hodge its last time out.

Plain Dealing (10-13, 2-1), winners of three of its last four, will host Haynesville (7-14, 1-1) who has lost three of four.
